This will be a written assignment for my doctoral quantitative analysis class regarding correlational analysis.

Correlational Analysis
Using the attached survey, perform one analysis (i.e., Part A or B) using Pearson correlation and the other (i.e., Part A or B) using Spearman correlation. Determine the appropriate test for each relationship, and then proceed with your analyses. (The sample is 575 adults from River Forest, IL in the data. The population is all adults in River Forest, IL.)

Instructions:

Part A
Assess the relationship between the years of school completed (variable name = “educ”) and the years of school completed by the mother (variable name = “maeduc”).
Part B
Assess the relationship between the highest degree earned (variable name = “degree”) and the stress level associated with work (variable name = “stress”).

For BOTH Part A and B, you need the following:
* A clear and concise research question: (e.g., “Among population A, is there a relationship between X and Y?”)
* A clear and concise null hypothesis that aligns to the research question: “Among population A, there is no relationship between X and Y.”)
* A clear research hypothesis that aligns to the research question: “Among population A, there is a relationship between X and Y.”)
* Basic descriiptive analysis of the variables used (e.g., mean, median, SD, range, % for each group, etc.) in a paragraph form. (Don’t just include a number of SPSS tables and not talk about it.)
* State the rationale for applying either Pearson or Spearman correlation in this investigation using appropriate readings and resources in Module 4. (Please cite specific references.)
* Findings in an APA format using the linked example write up to serve as a template.

* Please include the SPSS output (e.g., tables and such) used in your analyses, both descriiptive and inferential.
* Repeat steps/elements 1 to 7 above for both Parts A and B.

* State the rationale for applying either Pearson or Spearman correlation for each investigation.

Research & Null Hypotheses:

Part A: Used Pearson correlation because variables were at the interval level.

Research question: Among adults in River Forest, IL, is there a relationship between the years of school completed by a person and the number of years completed by his or her mother?

H0: Among adults in River Forest, IL, there is no relationship between the years of school completed by a person and the number of years completed by his or her mother.

H1: Among adults in River Forest, IL, there is direct relationship between the years of school completed by a person and the number of years completed by his or her mother.

Part B: Used Spearman correlation because variables were only at the ordinal level.

Research question: Among adults in River Forest, IL, is there is a relationship between the highest degree earned by a person and the stress level associated with work.

H0: Among adults in River Forest, IL, there is no relationship between the highest degree earned by a person and the stress level associated with work.

H1: Among adults in River Forest, IL, there is a direct relationship between the highest degree earned by a person and the stress level associated with work.

Attached is a model paper. I have also attached the SPSS output material for each variable, as well as recommended resources to elaborate on the assignment expectations. Make sure to provide substantial evidence from scholarly resources and refrain from making generalized statements.
