This is a group assignment. I am working on the section of ADDRESSING THE PROBLE
This is a group assignment. I am working on the section of ADDRESSING THE PROBLEM for population profile: Lee County Flordia. The Section I put in Bold and Underline is the section I am responable for. Here are teachers Instructions: Population Profile – 50 points. • To further inform you about your Senior Seminar project’s target population (the group to which you were assigned), group members will work as a team to search for and synthesize information from various resources to draft an evidence-based Population Profile.
• For CLS students, you need to think about the patients affected by the topic you were assigned. For example, if your topic was PSA screening for prostate cancer, your focus on the population profile would be on male, elderly patients. • To develop your Population Profile, continue your literature search until you find at least three (3) relevant primary research articles. You should also access census data (city/county, state, and federal) and documents from reliable organizations’ websites or other information resources. A minimum of six (6) resources that have been published within the last 10 years should be referenced within your paper. Keep in mind that three (3) primary research articles must be used in this assignment. The other three (3) may be informative/educational articles…perhaps on theory, concepts, etc. Refer to and synthesize your gathered information to describe the target population for your group’s project.
This assignment should include data collected and identification of problems and suggestions of needs in the form of a population profile. Sections of the Population Profile:
• Body of Paper
o Key Populations – You will organize your discussion around two key populations: Lee County and the State of Florida. Look at the sample paper provided for an example of how I would like this organized.
o Key Areas of Information – Within each key population, you will identify at least 5 key areas of information should be addressed that guide the development of your group’s Senior Seminar project. This section should be a minimum of 4 pages and may include population demographics such as age groups, gender groups, racial groups, character traits, history, physical geography, socioeconomic conditions, and any other statistics or descriptors you find interesting to your project population, such as crime, education, health, housing, transportation, birth rate, and vital statistics. To be successful in the Key Populations section of this assignment keep this in mind: You will choose 5 key areas to report for Lee County and the State of Florida. You will include information on the general population for Lee County and State of Florida as well as the age group for the health problem you are investigating. If you decide to include racial groups as one key area to report, report information on racial groups for the general population of Lee County and the general population for the State of Florida. You must also include information on racial groups specific to the age group of the problem you are investigating. Example: If you are on a team investigating illicit drug use between individuals aged 18-35, and decide to include information on racial groups as one key area, you would report information on racial groups for the general population of Lee County and the general population for the State of Florida. You would also report information specific for illicit drug use for the age group of 18-35 in Lee County as well as the State of Florida.
o After identifying your key areas of information, you will select one to address the problem. This section provides a good opportunity to use the required 3 primary research articles. When using the primary research articles, write on the research as you would a literature review in Research Methods in Healthcare. Introduce the study by the researchers who did the work. State the purpose of the study. Describe who researchers worked with (population). Describe the intervention (treatment) used to generate results. Describe the means by which data was collected (survey, interview, observation). Describe the findings. Relate the research back to your topic on the form of solutions and recommendations.
o Remember from Research Methods in Healthcare the generalization of research findings. Results of research can only be generalized to Lee County and the State of Florida if the study included participants from Lee County and/or the State of Florida. Suppose a research article you found focused on preventing illicit drug use in individuals 18-35 years of age—and the study was conducted in Boston and participants were recruited from Boston. We know that Boston is not in Lee County or Florida…and that is okay. When you describe the research as a means of addressing the problem, after describing the study, close the description with something similar to: although findings of this research cannot be generalized to Lee County or the state of Florida, this study would serve as a means to learn about the population of individuals aged 18-35 who engage in illicit drug abuse in Lee County or the State of Florida (be certain to use the correct caveat for the correct key Population).
I have screenshots of a sample paper our teacher provide so you can get the idea of how addreessing the problem should look. I have also provided a rubric as well. Thank You !
