Respond to this discussion post: The CDC estimates that almost 20% of children from age 2-19 are obese. This number has been rising for 30 years. There are several risk factors associated with childhood obesity:
Sedentary lifestyles that have been linked to video games and computers.
One of the child’s parents are overweight.
The introduction of fast food at a young age.
Adolescents may be obese. It is normally linked to the mother’s pregnancy and first year of life.
Formula feed babies can be obese.
Pregnant woman who are insulin resistant.
Objectives
Reduce overweight and obesity by helping people eat healthy and get physical activity.
Limit screen time.
Support breastfeeding parents.
Community health nurses can help implement these objectives by implementing breast feeding education classes. Educating parents, schools, and day cares about how much time a child should spend on electronics. Encouraging parents to go outside and be physical with their children.

Background on this subject:
As you discovered in this week’s lectures and readings, several populations face multiple health risks across their lifespan. Children and adolescents are a population that is at a higher health risk for obesity. A national movement is underway to reduce risk factors for developing obesity in children. Part of this movement is the “Let’s Move!” campaign, which is a comprehensive and coordinated initiative to prevent childhood obesity. The initiative emphasizes four primary components: healthy schools, access to affordable and healthy food, raising children’s physical activity levels, and
empowering families to make healthy choices. Review Healthy People 2020:
