Annotated Bibliography:
How do we write a quality research paper if we don’t know what other scholars have said about the work we are researching? An annotated bibliography helps us keep track of all that!
According to the Purdue OWL, “A bibliography is a list of sources (books, journals, Web sites, periodicals, etc.) one has used for researching a topic. Bibliographies are sometimes called “References” or “Works Cited” depending on the style format you are using. A bibliography usually just includes the bibliographic information (i.e., the author, title, publisher, etc.).
An annotation is a summary and/or evaluation. Therefore, an annotated bibliography includes a summary and/or evaluation of each of the sources.
Review the information here to write your annotated bibliography.
Annotate at least 4 scholarly sources based on your objects for your final paper. Be sure to reference and cite your sources in CMS-NB.
*The Anne D’Alleva textbook for this class is one of your required scholarly sources.
Assessment Rubric:
Content: Do the annotations sufficiently and succinctly summarize and evaluate the source? Does author explain how source will be used?
/20
Citations: Are the citations structured correctly according to CMS-NB style? Are there any errors?
/20
Credibility: Are the sources academically credible? Are the sources all relevant to your objects?
/20

I have to construct an annotated bibliography for this assignment that will be due next week (I only need the annotation bibliography):
The goal of this assignment is to apply your formal analysis skills to your critical thinking skills through application of theory when comparing two works of art or visual culture – one from the Western tradition and one from the Nonwestern tradition. As such, this assignment asks you to focus on both works of art you chose from the ARTSTOR database, write a 5-7 page critical reflection comparison about the works you chose through the lens of one theory we have discussed this term. How do you think applying this theory to these works may change your understanding? Does applying this theory to both works change your understanding of each in the same way? Does it bring to light issues with understanding these works? Be sure to reference and cite the textbook and four articles (or other sources) in CMS-NB. Your reflection should first include your revised and polished formal analysis of each work that clearly and smoothly leads into your application of theory.
Course Learning Objectives Met:
Apply critical thinking skills through discussions and assignments that challenge assumptions, contextualize information, identify problems, conceptualize responses to topics within the history of the discipline of art history.
Analyze the thesis, methodology, supporting evidence, and conclusions of various scholarly articles.
Compose clear and organized written assignments that include a thesis statement, supporting evidence, applied methodologies and conclusion.
Writing demonstrates clarity, organization, and correct grammar, syntax, spelling, and applied Chicago Manual of Style.
Format:
Your paper should be a minimum of 5-7 pages, not including cover page, image, or bibliography, and should be well written, organized, and include minimal typos and/or grammatical errors.
Your paper should include a properly formatted image of the work you discuss in CMS-NB.
Your paper should include properly formatted in-text citations to both required readings and both readings should be properly formatted and listed in the bibliography.
Your paper should be submitted in 12 pt. Times New Roman font, 1-inch margins, and in Word doc. or docx. format only, so that track changes can be used to give you detailed, in-text feedback.
