Essay Writing Instructions
Step 1 – choose an essay question and write a thesis statement with three sub-theses. Step 2 – get teacher approval on your thesis statement SO IMPORTANT DUE https://docs.google.com/document/d/1EM82KtzDIAxjPKaIAE4Dn9yCQps_znlJ3MEoLv1Sp8M/edit?usp=sharing
Step 3 – create a google doc for your essay, plan your essay point form using a planning chart or graphic organizer given, review essay rubric in detail (see below) – ROUGH PLAN DUE Step 4 – look for strong direct quotes to support all of your arguments (make sure you have page numbers – this will make writing so much easier)
Step 5 – write your introductory paragraph for peer review/feedback (share google doc) – DUE Step 6 – write your body paragraphs and be ready to share for peer review/feedback DUE Step 7 – write your conclusion and edit your entire essay again (READ IT OUTLOUD), make sure you add a full book citation at the end of your paper in MLA – DUE Step 8 – convert your entire doc to a PDF and upload to the assignment folder, take note of originality report turnitin will generate in brightspace. Due Literary Essay Google doc (turned into a PDF when submitted) should include the following: 1. essay question 2. thesis statement 3. essay planning notes, chart or graphic organizer (whichever you choose) 4. Essay draft with all the edits and notes from peers 5.
