Rationale: The purpose of the interpretive reader is to communicate the author’s work through audio. In other words, the reader makes the story come alive. The primary objective of this assignment is to help you apply audio techniques to enhance the effectiveness of your reading. To fulfill the requirements of this task, you must define the overall purpose of the story by adopting an appropriate style of speech, focus on communicating the story through your reading skills, and use diversity of phoneme, rhythm, tempo, and pauses to convey the feelings and actions of the story. Time: 2 minutes Single task 1. Select an English language book (novel) to read. Obtain teacher approval for the book. 2. Practice and present a portion of this book. a. Introduction: Prepare an appropriate opening of no more than 30 seconds to grab the audience’s attention, tell them the title of the book, give them a brief review of the story, and say a few words about the author. Do not read this part. B. Body: Use your voice and gestures/body movement to get your audience’s attention. The minimum reading time is 1 minute. c. Conclusion: Make sure to memorize the last 30 seconds to finish by explaining the part you just read. Do not read this part. 3. Upload your video on the date announced on Moodle. Task Instructions: 1. Make sure the video is recorded in a Windows compatible format (.avi, .mpeg, or .mp4). 2. Film your video using verbal and non-verbal communication. Don’t picture yourself sitting. 3. For video recording, students can use their mobile phones. It doesn’t have to be high resolution. Videos must be recorded by rotating phones to landscape to obtain a wide screen format. Make sure that the video size is no more than 90MB. Students are not allowed to cut/edit
